The Take Home Assignment

Instructions:

Hand it (whatever it becomes) by Friday @ 11:20 a.m.

The idea here is to prove to me that you've learned some things in this section of the course. Use any/all resources available to you (including Graphmatica, Excel, your calculators, etc.), but CONCENTRATE on the QUALITY, APPEARANCE, and GENERAL MATHEMATICAL WORTHINESS OF YOUR RESPONSES. The format of your responses is up to you, but consider that perfection is the goal. Creativity should be considered when you are CREATING your responses. Plagiarism of any kind will be rewarded with a zero grade on the assignment, in addition to my disdain for your lack of personal integrity.

Impress me. Challenge yourself.

Hey k i can't remember how to ge the axis of semmetry can someone tell me what that is please.

:chevy: said...

i'm with ya on this one jana.. Not even sure

*chocolatelover18* said...

the Vertex..... i'm pretty sure

~*KJ*~ said...

what do you mean by the vertex???

*chocolatelover18* said...

okay do you remember how to find the maximum and minimum vertex on your calculator?

~*KJ*~ said...

k thanks i got it

~*KJ*~ said...

k and what do i do on my calculator?

*chocolatelover18* said...

yeah its basically the highest point before it goes back down or up (depending on wether it is for maximum or minimum)

Hope it helps

It's an open book test!!!! Go into the course work drive and extract the stuff we might have did on it. If we didn't do anyting on it, ask again.

:)

I thought it was the line on the x-axis that goes straight through the vertes/parabola

:)

*chocolatelover18* said...

look in your notes or on the blog. type your equation into your calculator and graph it. then press 2nd trace. then depending on which way it opens you either select minimum or maximum from the list

:chevy: said...

i love chocolate too. Yummy. haha anyway, i'm really nervous for this actually....

*chocolatelover18* said...

okay so you need to find your vertex that way and then draw a straight line that goes through the vertex and splits the parobola in half

~*KJ*~ said...

if i am saying greater then do i put y>4?

~*KJ*~ said...

because i always get them mixed up

semba04 said...

lol

you have how many days to do it?

:)

semba04 said...

you are saying y is greater than four

*chocolatelover18* said...

if you are finding the vertex and your using graphmatica, how do you do it again? is it just zoom into where it is or is there a special way i cant remember

~*KJ*~ said...

ya thats what i am saying is that right?? and what do you mean how many days i don't get that?

:chevy: said...

thumbs up for blogs. soo, I'm going to be working on this probly right after school/ last block cause i have a spare, so i'd appreciatre it if we get a little chat log meeting going on and we can help eachother out. Sisterhood of the mathclass? know what i'm sayin? haha

*chocolatelover18* said...

i dont understand the how many days thing either what does that mean semba

*chocolatelover18* said...

i have a spare last block too

semba04 said...

which question?

~*KJ*~ said...

k well if you have a spare last block than met with us in the resources center

:chevy: said...

Sisterhood of the mathclass. yeehaw. resource: last block.
be there or be square!

~*KJ*~ said...

sounds good to me i hope noone else is square haha good one chev

BettyDoll said...

i sincerely wish i could make it

semba04 said...

square with round edges?

awww english last block

lol :)

*chocolatelover18* said...

i'll be there

:chevy: said...

what class do you have then "bettydoll" haha i'm sure your pretty disappointed that your not coming to our sisterhood first gathering

~*KJ*~ said...

I can tell already this is going to be a long test!! i am so scared!!

BettyDoll said...

gotta tutor a little boyyy. extremely disappointed, you know it.

*chocolatelover18* said...

semba can you help me. i dont understand what it means when it says determine the roots from the graph it doesnt make sense.

semba04 said...

ohh my gosh, we've got two nights to do it!

There's a bio test tomorrow!

:)

semba04 said...

what question?

:)

*chocolatelover18* said...

does anyone know how to find zeros?

:chevy: said...

i dont know what it means when it says state the zeroes either

~*KJ*~ said...

ok the zeros are where the line passes through the x axis of touches it.

*chocolatelover18* said...

Thanks *Kj* that helps some

~*KJ*~ said...

k and on number 5 b i don't know how to figure out the max and min's of the equation

*chocolatelover18* said...

Just graph it on your calculator

~*KJ*~ said...

no i did graph it its just i can't tell by how the picture shows up

*chocolatelover18* said...

ohhhh yeah thats a weird graph

*chocolatelover18* said...

I dont get 3 a) it confuses me.

~*KJ*~ said...

o 3 a just go on excel!! and put it in like that use # of increases and # of apples, # of trees/acres and than total!! does that help?

*chocolatelover18* said...

Some thanks

~*KJ*~ said...

ok for 6 a what did you put for the headings up top??

*chocolatelover18* said...

Length, width, height, and volume.

then as your formula under volume is just the volume formula

~*KJ*~ said...

ok and what are the first numbers that go under everything because i dont know how to set it up

*chocolatelover18* said...

your length and width are given in the question. then your height at first is 0 then it goes up by 1 every time k does that help

~*KJ*~ said...

thank you k now i get it

*chocolatelover18* said...

What was the numbers you put under # of increases

:chevy: said...

i dont know how to do..3 c!!

*chocolatelover18* said...

Use excel is all i know i havent tried it yet. so yeah

~*KJ*~ said...

k can somone come into the resoucre centre at 5th block again!! because i am so confussed right now! and can you guys help me?

~*KJ*~ said...

k number of increases i put 0 1 2 3 and so on

*chocolatelover18* said...

I cant come the the resource today cause i have to switch vehicles cause my friend from alberta is coming after school and that so yeah im confused too and i wish i could come

*chocolatelover18* said...
