Tuesday, January 15th 2008

Beginning of class we got our Blogging Self- Assessment, which is due by Friday! Remember, dont be too hard on yourself, or too easy on yourself, Max will mark you close to what you deserve based on how well you did the days you were scribed to blog.

For the remaining of class, we reviewed circles. He gave us questions similar to the ones he'll be giving us for our quiz later on this week.. Which, in my opinion is sooooooo difficult.. But Tony The Tiger did always say .... "Practise Makes Perfect".. well he also says "YOUUUUUUR GRREAT!" haha, anyway, sorry a little carried away.

Anyway, So!
Homework question due for tomorrow, on circles. yayy.
Well, Cook is scribe for tomorrow
I'm gone for a trip to Assissippi.

p.s, in order to help you with your circle questions, review your Circle Properties notes!

Monday Janurary 14th, 2008

Today is January 14th, 2008. Today in day one. First of all when we got to class many of us learned what "E-mail" really meant. The definition of E-mail is Electronic Email. To tell the truth I had no idea what "E-mail" meant until today. Then Mr. Max told us specail things to pay attention to which were:

1) Exam - Two Parts!
- PART ONE: Long Answer, Monday January 28th at 10:30 in room 204 with a noon hour extension to a maximum of 12:30 p.m. Format being constructed response (show your work).

- PART TWO: Selected Response (multiple choice) Thursday, Janurary 31st at 12:50 p.m. in room 204 (Until buses come)

2) Blog Rubric
- Fill out the Blog Rubric, and if Mr. Max agrees, then you will receive the marks. It is out of fifteen.

3) Accelerated Math
- The deadline is Friday Januray 18th, for 50 mastered objectives.
- Friday, February 1st, is the last day possible to scan at 12:00 noon.

4) Circle Geometry Quiz
- One on One with Mr. Max, prior to the end of the course.

We Also made a spread sheet on how to figure out what we need to get on the exam in order to pass the class.

Monday, January 14th

** Did you know that e-mail is short for Electronic Mail??

Friday, January 11, 2007

This morning we were told good/bad news.. our exam schedule is out! The first part for the Applied 30SA test is on the last day of school, January 28 at 10:40. Then, the second part is scheduled for January 31 at 12:50 pm. They will both be held in Mr. Maks' classroom.

In today's class we corrected homework questions for exercise 2&3 of interest and budgeting. The booklet answers can be found in the folder J:\Coursework\Provincial Math Booklets.

As for homework, we still haven't gone through our circle booklet so make sure it's done for next week! Most of Accelerated math is due on January 18 (50 objectives).

Thursday, January 10, 2008

Thursday, Jan 10, 2008.

Today in class exercises 2 and 3, in the intrest booklet, had to be done for end of class.
To get the answers to all of the questions, certain formulas must be used.
The formulas are.......

1.Find intrest= I=(P*r*t) Intrest=(Principal*rate*time)
2.Find Principal= P=I/(r*t) Principal=Intrest/(rate*time)
3.Find rate= r=I/(P*t) rate=Intrest/(Principal*time)
4.Find time= t=I/(P*r) time=Intrest/(Principal*rate)

Blogging Self-Assessment

As we near the end of this course, I'm looking for your assistance in generating a 'score' for your contributions via the blog for the semester....Specifically, and with respect to the photocopied handout entitled, "Blog Scribing in Room 204", use these questions to help you formulate in your own mind an idea of what mark you deserve. I'll hand out a rubric in class to help you finalize an actual score, with weighting....

1. Did you blog when you were supposed to? (within 24 hours?), (and every time you were supposed to?)

2. Do your posts contain relevant screen shots from my Sympodium, incorporated in a meaningful way?

3. Have you ever commented meaningfully to another student's post? Were you gracious, decent, sincere, and timely?

4. Did you just do the bare minimum or did you actually take some time to contribute something worthwhile and meaningful to your classmates?

5. How is your spelling / grammar on the blog? Would your ELA teacher approve or disapprove of your language presentation?

6. Do you think I might have any constructive criticisms of your efforts? If so, consider these accordingly...

7. Did you ever contribute a meaningful image, link, thought, idea that was beyond the scope of classroom discussion. Did you ever exceed the expectation of your responsibilities to your classmates?

The only way that I believe that you should consider awarding yourself full marks in this category of your assessment for this course is if you can honestly and sincerely reflect upon these questions and award all the marks available as a result. Some of you deserve these marks, but some of you certainly do not. The rubric I hand out in class will help you determine an actual score....

Comments here might be appropriate if you have any reflections to share about this process
We started off the class with mental math mr. max added our mental math marks and our extra 5% from the test

*note*53 objectives due by the 28th

*for tomorrow ex# 2 budgets invastments
ex# 3 budgets and investments

In this class we had time to work on our our budget and investment sheets
we used the spread sheets on excel

Formulas
  • to find Intrest (P times R times T)
  • to find Principal (intrest divide R times T)
  • to find Rate (intrest divided by P times T)
  • to find Time (Intrest divided by P times R)
